Pinhook bog is only open to the public on certain days and then you must go back with a National Park Ranger. It is a sensitive and vital habitat that must be protected. We were so happy to hike back through a beautiful forest to this very interesting kettle bog. We saw purple pitcher plants (Sarracenia purpurea), tamarack trees, buttonbush, mats of sphagnum moss, blueberry bushes, poison sumac, sundews, sedges, lady slippers, lizard tail, club moss, and bladderworts. We also found a snake skin and saw a leopard frog.
